Introduction:
Postgraduate training in the
United Kingdom is divided in to Basic Specialist Training and Higher
Specialist Training. Completion of the training would lead to the award of
CCT
(Certificate of Completion of Training) and allows to work independently
as a consultant.
Postgraduate training is organised and partially funded
by the postgraduate dean. There are 21 Post Graduate
Deaneries across England and Wales. Post Graduate deaneries organises the rotational training schemes.
Royal College of respective specialty inspects individual hospital and
approves the posts for training purposes. These Posts are in the NHS Hospitals
and trainees are required to do the clinical work during the training
period.
